The Best Fitness Equipment for Home Gyms

I used to have a gym membership, but I realized that I could save money overtime by investing in my own home gym. Some people need a gym to stay motivated. I understand it isn’t for everyone. It can even be difficult for me at times to sneak away and workout in my home gym. But the convenience of being able to go down to the basement and get a quick workout in is worth it. With that being said, you don’t need a lot of equipment to have a functional home gym either.
Abby and I used to have a Planet Fitness membership for $20 a month. During the nice weather months, we would never go. So, I put that $240 a year membership to work and bought some nice equipment overtime with it. You could furnish your entire home gym for $240. But it all depends on what type of equipment you want and the type of workouts you do. Over the years since I started buying gym equipment, I’ve spent around $1,500. Abby and I haven’t had a gym membership since 2018. The home gym has virtually paid for itself over the years. I can also add in the extra savings of time and gas as well.

Where to Shop for Good Prices:
- Titian Fitness (my favorite)
All of my big gym items are from Titian Fitness. They have great prices on a wide range of equipment. Take a look at their site here. - Walmart
From time to time, Walmart will put dumbbells, kettlebells, and other equipment on rollback. Rollback is a temporary price reduction on an item. I look at their website frequently to try and get the best prices on equipment. - T.J. Maxx or Marshals
They always seem to have basic gym equipment at cheap prices. Every time I’m at one of the stores, I stroll through the fitness section. - Facebook Market Place
Abby and I bought a brand new (stickers still on it) 1,200 dollar Nordic Track elliptical off Facebook Market Place for 200 dollars! If you’re patient, you could find some awesome deals. - Craigslist
There is still a lot of stuff for sale on Craigslist. If you’re looking for used equipment, definitely checkout Craigslist too. - Amazon
Everything is for sale on Amazon, but everything isn’t always the cheapest price, so shop around first. - Garage sales
If I see workout equipment at a garage sale, I always stop. Sometimes things are priced to sell and sell fast. So, you might get a great deal!
